// Płacz, Panno młoda, płacz!
Jesteś tak piękna i delikatna,
że spodobałaś się mu.
Za chwilę chupę postawią,
za chwilę już będzie tu.
Ach, nowy świat ujrzysz wnet,
mówi się, że piękny jest,
lecz nie wiem czy masz się cieszyć –
płacz, panno młoda, płacz!…
Już zawsze będziesz wspominać
uczucia z dziecięcych lat:
to tutaj lubiłaś stawać,
tam oto bawiłaś się...
Młode lata ulatują,
nie powrócą więcej, nie.
Tak nasze życie przemija –
płacz, panno młoda, płacz!…
Gdy mąż twój łzy będzie przelewać,
na sercu ciężko będzie mu,
osładzaj jego życie,
pomniejszaj jego ból!
Swoim dzieciom daj zrozumieć
czym nieszczęście dla nas jest:
że płakać to żyć dla nas znaczy…
płacz, panno młoda, płacz!…
Prowadźcie lubego ku niej,
posypcie kwiatami ich!
Będziemy modlić się wszyscy,
żeby udany ci był!
Gdzie tylko kroki skierujesz,
niech nad tobą czuwa Bóg,
niech cię wysłucha, łzy osuszy –
płacz, panno młoda, płacz!…
//ENGLISH:
Cry, my young bride, cry!
You have been chosen by him
because you are so fair and fine.
They’ll put up a wedding chuppah,
It’ll be here in some time.
A brave new world awaits ahead:
it’s beautiful - or so they say,
but I don’t know if you should be happy -
Cry, my young bride, cry!...
You’ll always cherish the memories of
your childhood sentiments:
Here’s where you would stop and rest
and that there is where you’d play...
The years of youth fly away,
it’s hopeless to bid them stay,
and so our life swiftly passess...
Cry, my young bride, cry!...
If ever you see your husband
shed tears, with a heavy heart,
lighten his load and his sadness,
and sweeten his life!
Make your children understand
what sorrow means to all of us,
that crying is a part of our life...
Cry, my young bride, cry!...
Bring down the groom to the bride,
strew flowers all over them!
We’ll pray that your beloved
will make you feel proud one day!
Wherever you lead your steps,
may God Almighty guide your way,
may he comfort you and dry your tears -
Cry, my young bride, cry!...

Wonderful witchcraft and pure piano pleasure with vivid voice ventures! I adore this whole masterpiece. Thank you Lady Hania. It is a pleasure Ms. Rani. Wandowaiato

This is a richly layered composition- the music is wonderful- and the texts really work well with it. It feels like it's pushing Yiddish music forward while staying connected to the past.
I don’t have the gift of prophecy so I can’t predict the future- but I would not be surprised if years from now this will cunt among the classics of the repertoire of Yiddish music. Shamma Boyarin
