Mamuniu, skarbuniu
Mamuniu, skarbuniu, serce me, kochane,
cichutko bądźże choć raz!
Piekielny ogień ugaś we mnie
i chłopca mych marzeń mi daj!
Zakochałam się w chłopcu pięknym jak obrazek,
piękny jak złoto był.
Tak go, mamuniu, kochałam,
pragnęłam go z całych sił.
Spacerowaliśmy, duszeńko, bez końca
po bulwarze w tę i nazad;
wszystkie dziewczyny bawią się w miłość,
a ja głupia, czysta jak łza.
Spacerowaliśmy, duszeńko, bez końca
po trawach w tę i nazad;
cóż za zły urok rzuciłaś na mnie,
ach, czemuż serce mi skradł?
Marzenie, tatuniu, marzenie, mamuniu,
marzenie dręczyło mnie;
jego piękna, piękna twarz
opętała mnie!
Jego czarne oczęta
opętały mnie!
Drzewa zakwitają, lata przemijają,
czas się rozpływa jak dym;
od kiedy miłość jego poznałam,
od płaczu nie mam już sił!

Mother, My Beloved
Mother, my beloved, my treasure, my pleasure,
could you be silent a while?
Keep at peace my heart’s hellish fire
and give me the one that I want.
I fell in love with a boy, young and beautiful,
his face like a golden coin.
Oh, how I fell for him, mother, my love!
I loved him and wanted him so.
Mother o’mine, how we went walking together,
here and there, on the boulevard.
All other girls treat love like a game,
while I trusted my foolish heart.
Dear mother, oh, how we went walking together,
Here and there, on the grass.
What kind of evil spell did you cast on me?
Dear God, I still don’t know why!
It was just a dream, mother, such a sweet dream, father.
This dream wouldn’t leave me be.
The memory of his beautiful face
still haunts me in my sleep!
With his blackest, blackest eyes,
he haunts me in my sleep!
The trees bloom in springtime as years come and pass me by,
life disappears like smoke.
I have wept all my strength away
since I got to know his love!

Wonderful witchcraft and pure piano pleasure with vivid voice ventures! I adore this whole masterpiece. Thank you Lady Hania. It is a pleasure Ms. Rani. Wandowaiato

This is a richly layered composition- the music is wonderful- and the texts really work well with it. It feels like it's pushing Yiddish music forward while staying connected to the past.
I don’t have the gift of prophecy so I can’t predict the future- but I would not be surprised if years from now this will cunt among the classics of the repertoire of Yiddish music. Shamma Boyarin
